This moss was discovered in one of the calcareous lakes near Krabi in the south of Thailand. Bryologist Prof. Benito C. Tan (Singapore) found out that it is related to Vesicularia montagnei but wasn't able to determine its exact species.
It looks very much like the moss called Vesicularia sp. "Mini Christmas Moss" in this database, however, its shoots are more rigid. Vesicularia cf. montagnei "Krabi" has dense, regularly branching delicate shoots that attach to rocks and driftwood with the help of their rhizoids. It comes from a lake with a high carboate hardnessa and thus does well in hardwater tanks.
